A Touch of Green

Welcome to the very first posting of The Greenacres Times, a community news blog. We will be bringing you news and stories concerned with all aspects of green lifestyle, arts and culture with particular emphasis on green spaces. There is a huge pressure on us all to consume and it is all too easy to forget there are more important things in life. We are living in an age of uncertainty, no one can be sure of where the climate change scenario will lead us, some say nothing short of global ecological disaster. One thing that must be clear to us all is that our present lifestyles are simply unsustainable. If this news blog encourages some people to reconnect with nature and discover the treasures we have on our doorstep it will have been a success. For understanding nature is the first step towards reversing the destruction of our planet. From the air we breathe and the water we drink to the food on our shelves, nothing can be taken for granted anymore.

Another thing that will make this news blog a success is to have as much involvement from as many people as possible. If you have any ideas or opinions please write in - we will publish your letters. Why not send in an article. Tell us about your favourite green space. Have you got any thoughts on climate change? Any tips on being green? If you are a cyclist, walker, allotment holder, tree lover, or have a particular hobby, we would love to hear from you. We are keen to cover arts and culture, so local artists, writers, craftsmen, artisans, please write in. Also let us know of any forthcoming events.
